Description

Later 19th century villa with "Thomsonesque" detailing;
2 storeys 3 bays, (full basement on slope to rear).
Snecked and squared rubble, ashlar dressings, some
incised ornament e.g. on doorcase pilasters, plain 2-
storey canted window right, other 1st floor windows
with recessed entablatures, pilasters rising out of
jambs; plate glass sashes; bracketted eaves; end stacks;
slate roof.
Gatepiers are unusually sophisticated in design and also
Thomsonesque (which may point to Thomson and Turnbull
as architects); ashlar, square in plan with distinctive
elongated dome-shaped caps with incised Egypto-Greek
detailing.
