Description

William Tennant, 1897. 4-storey and attic 3-bay, red ashlar.
Ground floor arched pilastered entrance between 2 large
modern shop windows. Central canted windows rises from
1st to 3rd floors. All upper floor windows mullion and
transom with multi-pane upper lights. String course over
each storey. Main cornice, parapet with 2 pedimented
dormer windows, ball finials, central Venetian dormer
window with segmental pediment in front of steep square
slate roof with brattishing.
Elevation to Pearce Lane: simplified but similar detail,
large gable-end stack with flanking windows and urn
finials. Bay to W has arched ground floor door, part
blocked, 1st floor cross window and tall arched mullion
and transom window rising through 2nd and 3rd floors,
lighting stairs. Brick rear. Simple tiled stairway with
wrought-iron banister.
