Sir J J Burnet, 1899. Free classical, commercial building, ground floor altered in outer bays. Symmetrical, 4-storey (outer single bays 5-storey), 7 bays arranged 1-5-1. Polished red ashlar channelled at ground and 1st floor. Sash and case windows with glazing bars in upper panes. Architraved central entrance bay with wrought-iron grille; aediculed, broken pediment bay window above and frieze "WATERLOO CHAMBERS". Plain ground floor windows. 2nd floor boldly corbelled balcony stopped by figure sculpture to left and right of central bay. Single outer bays plain above 1st floor, balustraded balcony at 5th floor.
CENTRAL 5 BAYS: broken pedimented aedicule windows outer bays of 2nd floor, canted inner bays pilasters and semi-engaged columns repeated above with aedicule in centre 3rd floor, balcony; recessed 4th and 5th floors with plain outer bays, coupled Greek Ionic columns carrying 6th floor balcony, breaking forward and corbelled in outer bays with aediculed windows above. Eaves gallery with anta and clasping columns,
bracketted cornice. Raised die in outer bays.
