John Keppie (Honeyman and Keppie), 1904. 5-storey and attic,
Edwardian Baroque commercial building with modern shops at
ground floor, 5 main bays. Ashlar. Advanced outer bays,
canted, rising from 1st to 3rd floor. All windows sash and
case in architraves with multi-pane upper sash. 1st floor
sculpted frieze in canted bays, repeated at 2nd floor;
single lights in lugged architraves in central bays with
sculpted tympana in triangular and segmental pediments. 2nd
floor 3 2-light windows in continuous architrave, Roman Ionic
central mullions. 3rd floor windows with Gibbs surrounds,
corbelled cornice above. 3 arched and keystoned 4th floor
windows with wrought-iron balustrade; plain architraved
windows in outer bays with escutcheons. Eaves dentil cornice.
Attic storey over outer bays with pedimented windows in Gibbs
surround framed by banded columns and open segmental
pediments.
