1845 and later. Classical, long 3-storey and basement
flatted terrace. 5-bay end pavilions. Polished ashlar,
partly painted, channelled at ground floor. Sash and case
windows in architraves at upper floors. 12- and, 4-pane
glazing and plate glass, 12-pane glazing to rear. Each
entry at head of steps oversailing basement area. Panelled
doors to most entrances. Basement band course. Fluted
Greek Doric doorpieces to end pavilions; 7 coupled Ionic
doorpieces in E bays, coupled anta doorpieces in W bays.
Full-height 4-light canted bays with central cast-iron
column mullions at Nos 16 and 17 and 18 and 19. 1st
floor windows on cill band, corniced or console corniced
with aprons, main cornice, parapet over end bays. Single
and 2-light dormers with pedimented heads over nos 16-19.
ELEVATION TO NORTH CLAREMONT STREET: 15 bays arranged
5-5-5. 5 N bays raised and detailed as main elevation
with central Greek Doric portico. Ionic columned porticos
at Nos 11 and 17. Ramped, lugged architraves to 1st floor
windows, corniced. Plain architraved windows to 2nd
floor.
ELEVATION TO KELVINGROVE STREET: 4-bays, 2nd bay from N
blind. Repeats detailing of main elevation. Corniced
doorpiece to No 66. Slate roof; corniced axial stacks.
Cast-iron railings, elaborate pattern Nos 16-19.
Complete on 1860 OS.
