John Honeyman, 1864. Late decorated gothic. Nave,
chancel, transept. SE tower and spire. Coursed ashlar,
squared rubble rear elevation. Raked plinth.
ELEVATION TO CLAREMONT STREET: arched entry at head of
short flight of steps, ribbed, springing from colonettes.
2 2-light windows with curvilinear tracery. Porch and
polygonal turret in re-entrant angle of nave and
transept. 3 hoodmoulded loopholes, carved cornice. Pepper
pot roof, geometrically slate. Double gable transept,
diagonally buttressed overlapping cope, 2 3-light arched
windows with curvilinear tracery.
N return: plain liturgical E (N) window. Vesica.
ELEVATION TO BERKELEY STREET: single gable with 2 2-light
hoodmoulded windows. 2 buttresses headed by curved
decoration. Rose window. Vesica. 5-bay blind arcade
below SW gable.
Modern addition to W.
TOWER AND SPIRE: 3 stage tower with angle buttresses.
Coupled loops to 2nd stage breaking through continuous
hoodmould. Bipartite bellcote stage with tracery.
Broached ashlar spire with shallow lucarnes and clasping
pinnacles.
INTERIOR: Partially altered arcaded transept screens
with carved colonettes. W gallery (S). Pierced hammerbeam
roof. Stained glass E (N) window.
