Description

William Clarke (Clarke and Bell), 1856. 3-storey and
basement long classical terrace of 4-bay houses. 47 bays
arranged 7-32-8, central windows arranged 1-3-3-1 etc.
7-bay N end block raised to 4-storeys and projecting, S
end block riased. Polished ashlar, channelled at ground
floor, partly painted. Ground floor level band course.
Sash and case windows in architraves, mainly 4-pane
glazing. 1st floor bracketted, balustraded balcony in
central bays, partially removed. Central bays 1st floor
dentil band and cornice, 2nd floor plain entablature,
dentil cornice, balustraded parapet.
N SECTION: 1st and 2nd floor windows corniced, corbelled
at 2nd floor.
N RETURN: 5 bays, 2nd bay blind. Corniced doorpiece to
No 2 set back. Slate roof with corniced axial stacks.
Interior: No 14 Good Samaritan stained glass door and
interior work by Charles Gow and Pupils.
