Description

Thomson, Sandilands and MacLeod, 1935-36. 7-storey, symmetrical, rectangular, metal-framed Warehouse and office block on corner site. Polished red sandstone cladding with floor levels marked by incised

metal panels.

9-bay elevation to Wilson Street, 4-bay to Brunswick and Hutcheson Streets, ground floor with full-height openings, central door with hooded roll-moulding to Wilson Street, architraved doorway. Modern door (Clydesdale Bank).

Chamfered red sandstone strips separate windows, windows all of same dimensions, metal-framed, 7-paned with top-hopper and casement opening.

Deep cornice over 5th floor with 6th floor as attic storey, similar windows.

Statement of Interest

Design originally prepared for A Link, Warehouseman and Hosier, drawings dated 1932. Built eventually for Textile Estates Ltd, completed 2 October 1936. Additional information courtesy of Iain Paterson, Glasgow City Council.
