Description

George Bell, 1894-7. Warehousing with former Bank of

Scotland at ground. Renaissance detail. 4 storeys and

attic 3 bays to Trongate, 5 bays to Candleriggs with

curved 2-window angle bay. Ashlar, thin pilastered

elevation to former bank, entrance at angle with

round-arched head and hood supported on consoles,

additional pedimented door to Trongate. Each floor

divided by entablature, windows recessed behind

pilasters and engaged columns, Roman Doric at 1st floor, Ionic

2nd, Corinthian 3rd. All single light sash and case windows with plate-glass glazing. Tall parapet broken by pedimented dormers,

3 light to Candleriggs, 2 to Trongate. Outer 2 bays to

Candleriggs recessed, outer bay to Trongate recessed.
