Description

James Sellars, architect, 1885. 4-storey 3-bay Free
Renaissance warehouse. Polished red ashlar. Ground
floor with unfortunate modern shopfront.
Banded masonry to 1st, wide central tripartite,
shallow-bowed oriel, polished red granite Ionic columns
flank central light. Oriel flanked by single lights. 2nd
has central 3-light canted window, all bays flanked by
pilasters and with pilastered reveals. Galleried 3rd
floor with windows grouped 2-3-2 with engaged pillars
between bays linking columned arcade. 1st floor windows
sash and case with plate-glass glazing, 2-pane casements
to 2nd and 3rd. Cornices over each floor, to 1st
delicate festoon frieze. Eaves cornice and delicate and
fine wrought-iron balustrade to parapet. Die pedestals
flank balustrade, corniced end stacks, slate roofs.
