Description

Circa 1860 with James Morrison Street elevation possibly
given its present appearance with the formation of the
street in the early 1870s. Commercial use originally 4
storeys and attic, 3 bays to London Road, 1 curved angle
bay linking to 7 bay James Morrison Street elevation.
Slender cast-iron columned shop-front at ground, ashlar
above.
LONDON ROAD ELEVATION: giant pilaster strips rise
through 1st and 2nd floors supporting floral swagged
frieze and cornice; inset pilastered panels frame
recessed windows in each floor. Panelled pilasters frame
3rd floor windows; die parapet. 1 large wallhead dormer
with crowning stack.
JAMES MORRISON STREET: bipartite windows (one bay with
single lights). Pilasters frame bays in 1st and 2nd
floors. 2 wallhead dormers with stacks. Corner pavilion
roof, all roofs slated.
