Description

Terrace of 16 2-bay houses constructed in two builds; Nos
1-14 circa 1872, Nos 15 and 16 circa 1875. All with similar
classical detailing Nos 15 and 16 with curving facade and
wider right bay. 2-storeys, attic and basement. Polished
ashlar, partly painted or stonecleaned; v-channelled at
ground and above 1st floor canted windows.
Steps oversailing basement to tripartite doorways with glazed
sidelights and double-leaf outer door, Nos 15 and 16 with
plain doorway. Single architraved window over doors, at Nos
15 and 16 bipartite windows to left, canted bay window rises
from basement through 2-storeys. Nos 1 and 2 similarly
detailed but arranged as mirrored pair. Sash windows, plate
glass glazing. Cornice over ground acts as cill band to 1st
floor window. Eaves course, modillion cornice, plain parapet.
Paired piended or flat roofed dormers. Corniced axial stacks,
slate roofs. 3-bay polished ashlar flank to Huntly Road
similarly detailed.
Elegant cast-iron railings to steps and basement.
Generally good interior plasterwork to hall and stairs. No 1
and 2 have cast-iron balustrades to parapets of canted
windows.
