Main elevation: 3 steps oversailing basement to boldly projecting porch with paired Roman Doric fluted columns supporting full Doric entablature, sides of porch originally glazed. Small circular roof light. Tripartite doorpiece with acid etched sidelights; 3-leaf
panelled door. Flanking porch 2-storey projecting windows, rectangular at ground, canted at 1st with pilastered mullions, consoles supporting cornice over front light. Moulded cill band and cornice to each floor. Window above porch architraved consoled and corniced. 2nd floor windows in lugged architraves. Sash windows, plate glass glazing. Continuous band course over ground; over 2nd floor; dentil course and modillion cornice. 3 dormers; tall corniced axial stacks, slate roofs.
E flank 3-bay, similarly detailed with variations in the projecting bay details.
W flank droved ashlar with tall slightly projecting stack rising from ground. Windows in lugged architraves, mostly bracketted. Glazing and some windows altered; external fire-escapes.
Rear elevation droved ashlar with central arched stair light flanked by lesser square headed lights.
Extensive single-storey and basement droved ashlar wing to rear by J Salmon, circa 1924, with 2 canted bay windows to E; all with small pane glazing. Good ashlar balustrade with die pedestals to basement area.
Porched glazing removed circa 1982. Part of Great Western Road A group. Change of CATEGORY B for GROUP to B 28-7-87
