Circa 1890. Curved terrace of tenements; 3 storeys and
attics. Polished ashlar, channelled at ground, partly
stonecleaned. 20 bays arranged 4-4-8-4; not completed as a
symmetrical unit, though presumably intended as such.
No 5, 4-bay pavilion to left. Steps oversailing basement to
wide tripartite doorpiece with glazed sidelights, surmounted
by consoled pediment. 1st floor windows architraved and
alternately corniced or pedimented. 2nd floor windows plain.
3 round-headed attic windows under common pediment with
roundels in spandrels flanked by balustrade. Sash windows,
plate-glass glazing. String-course at cills and at eaves;
plain main cornice.
Nos 7-13 details similar to No 5 except; individual flights
of steps oversailing basement to paired tripartite doorpieces
with glazed sidelights; consoles support dentil cornice, roof
balustrade broken by round arched dormers.
Steeply pitched slate roofs, tall axial stacks.
Ashlar balustrade to steps with die pedestals.
Low ashlar wall to basement area supports ashlar balustrade
or modern cast-iron railings.
