Circa 1838, rubble, single storey, basement and attic. 3 bays
with ashlar centre, slightly advanced and parapetted with
architraved door approached by flight of steps with cast-iron
balusters, ground floor windows, tripartite at outer bays.
Single-storey and attic slightly advanced piend-roofed addition
added at east gable, Ross & Macbeth, 1887. Large swept
dormers replaced original piended dormers at original block,
1977. Addition of 1887 extends north to Academy Street where
courtyard at rear enclosed from street by high wall. Slated
roofs. Modern glazing at ground floor windows at garden front,
modern roof lights to both roof slopes.
Built for Roderick MacFarquhar Provost of Fortrose, whose
trustees sold the house to Roderick Mackenzie of Flowerburn in
1842.
