Description

John Robertson, 1890 with additions 1896 and 1904.
Single storey ranges with ridge and piended roofs, bipartite
and tripartite roofs, bipartite and tripartite windows. Tall,
circular clock tower, with round headed doorway, louvred
lancets, clockfaces, conical roof with corbelled eaves course
and metal finial. Snecked ashlar with polished ashlar
dressings. Slate roofs.
Large modern additions excluded from listing.

Statement of Interest

Dates, 1791, 1891 and 193<> in plaque over door. In 1699

Thomas Forbes bailie of Fortrose, mortified $100 to provide

salary for catechist. By end 18th century the administrators

of fund with help from gentlemen of country who subscribed $600 established school. (THE STATISTICAL ACCOUNT, OF SCOTLAND xi,

p345-7) Clock gifted by J D Fletcher of Rosehaugh. Made by

J B Joyce & Co, Whitchurch; erected 189<> 4 copper dials.
