Description

1847. Grey granite ashlar obelisk on Square corniced plinth
standing on stepped base. Red polished ashlar plaque in south
face, carved wreath at west; 2nd plaque in memory of Ian
Alastair Campbell with worn date.

Statement of Interest

Commanding site overlooking Fort William.

Inscription reads "Sacred to memory of Captain Peter Cameron of

the Earl of Balcarras Indiaman, third son of Sir Ewen Cameron

of Fassfern. Born at Fort William 10 September, died at

Blackheath 1843. This obelisk is erected by his attached

brother Sir Duncan Cameron of Fassfern in year 1847"
