Description

A and W Reid, circa 1860. Tall, 2-storey house over raised
basement, symmetrical 3 bays with centre door. Tooled
ashlar, polished or tooled ashlar dressings.
Classical portico with pair Roman Doric columns and
engaged pilasters, approached by flight stairs oversailing
raised basement. Flanking canted bay windows to
basement and ground floor; raised margins to 1st floor
windows linked by cill band; deep eaves; rusticated
quoins; 4-pane glazing; symmetrically placed square chimney
stacks, 2 batteries of 6 with linked cornices.
Shallow piended slate roof.
Rubble garden wall with dressed stone cope. 3 tooled
ashlar gatepiers with pyramidal caps.

Statement of Interest

Built for Mr J Stephens. Now divided internally into

local authority flats.

Corner site into Queen Street.
