Description

Circa 1880. 4-storey corner tenement with Baronial details; shops and bank at ground floor. Squared and snecked sandstone with polished dressings. Broken string course above 1st floor; cornice and corbel table at 3rd floor, stepped down to form segmental-arched hoods to 2 1st floor iwndows to W and 1 to N; 3rd floor windows breaking eaves in pedimented dormerheads; crowsteps coped or gabletted.

N WARRENDER PARK ROAD elevation: 5-bay, including rounded angle bay. Shopfront at ground to outer left with leaded upper glazing panels; modern front to corner bank. Rounded angle with bipartite windows to each bank. Rounded angle with bipartite windows in 2nd bay from left; crowstepped dormerhead. Single windows in remaining bays.

W MRCHMONT ROAD elevation: 8-bay, excluding rounded angle bay (see above). Modern shopfront to bank at corner; 3 further shopfronts and maindoor at ground. Doorway in 8th bay; panelled door; plate glass fanlight; single windows above; single windows in 7th bay; facetted pyramidal roof over 7th and 8th bays. Full-height bipartite window in 6th bay; crowstepped dormerhead. Bipartite windows over shops in 3rd and 5th bays. Single windows in remaining bays. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; corniced wallhead stack to S return; 2 corniced mutual stacks; 3 coped and rendered mutual stacks; scroll skewputts. INTERIORS: not seen 1991.
