Standard Edinburgh police box, by City Architects Department (E J MacRae, City Architect), designed late 1930s. 2-bay rectangular-plan (6ft x 4ft) cast-iron gabled kiosk sited at NE entrance to Rutland Square. Pilastered principal elevations, entrance elevation to NE with corniced door to right bearing city arms; 2 small corniced doors to left. Single bay short elevations surmounted by open pediments containing ribboned wreath decoration. Saltaire patterned glazing to all elevations.
