Description

Standard Edinburgh police box by City Architects Department (Ebenezer J MacRae, City Architect), designed probably late 1930's. Situated on N side of Market Street, at corner of Waverley Bridge. Classical rectangular cast-iron box 6ft by 4ft on plan. 2-bay Doric pilastered long elevations, 1 with door bearing City arms. Single bay short elevations surmounted by open pediments containing ribboned wreath decoration. Saltire patterned glazing to all elevations.

Fitted into the railings at SE corner of E Princes Street Gardens.
