Grainger and Millar, Leith and Granton Railway Engineers, 1844-47. 2 entrances to tunnel, at Scotland Street Goods and Mineral Station and at Heriot Hill House, Broughton Road. Slightly depressed horseshoe arches with long rusticated voussoirs between tapered droved and semicircular ashlar buttresses, curved approach walls, band course below coped ashlar parapet.
Constructed on a gradient of 1 in 27 and worked by cable haulage, closed since 1868, but still intact.
