Description

Patterson and Broom 1935-6. Streamline, cinema-style roadhouse.

Mainly single storey, part with galleries, Concrete (painted) with metal-framed windows, some with decorative patterns. Asymmetrical plan with wide bowed entrance to south, canopy over the door and 6 tall windows flanking

elongated canted and canopied window at gallery level. Set back, irregular elevation to E (public bar), long set back elevation to W (dining room) with curved ground floor projection and balcony above; brick detailing introduced at windows. Flat roofs behind parapets.

Interior: curved galleried entrance hall with swept imperial stair with stepped concrete balustrade capped with concentric metal grills, original panelling, chimneypiece, light fittings etc. Additional fittings in galleried dining room and former lounge bar.
