Description

Originally c. 1765, southern arm of large U-plan block with central pend forming W side of Nicolson Square, truncated by removal of central section as 2 L-plan units 1877 (probably by D Cousin) when Marshall Street was formed through it. 4-storey, and basement, S frontage 10-window exposed rubble, stuccoed E gable 2-window with fluted Ionic

pilaster doorpiece and paired triple keyblocked windows at ground floor both with pulvinated friezes 1877 crowsteps in place of original straight skews.

Original E section of N frontage 3-window, 1877 frontage at truncation of main jamb is crowstepped and double gabled, stugged coursers with roll moulded ground floor shops and strap-worked windows above. Basement area on S.

Slated roofs, chimneyheads rebuilt in brick and stucco.

Interiors have mid 18th century panelling and shouldered lintel chimneypieces, staircase is within 1877 truncation of main jamb.
