Description

T P Marwick 1885-1888. Baronial 3-storey and mansard attic tenements with ground floor shops, coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and moulded openings. Slated roofs. 3 blocks stepped in slope to Howden Street, centre one with gable; right hand one with rich Early Renaissance central corbelled chimney shaft; elaborate treatment to East Crosscauseway balanced asymmetrical treatment with near-central curvilinear gable; E corner is curved, corbelled diagonally to square, flanked by colonettes with sculptured capitals at 2nd, scrolled and segmentally pedimented attic gable; W corner at Howden Street treated as octagon, diagonally corbelled to square and gabled; rich swagged gable with couch top adjacent to E corner.

Good detail, some chimneyheads in need of restoration on Howden Street.
