A F Balfour Paul, 1911-14. Neo-Georgian E-plan school with
big and virtually symmetrical south front with piended
tall centre and ends set forward; harled, and on base of
polygonal masonry, unmargined openings, some contrasting
ashlar detail, multi-paned big sash windows, blocked eaves,
slate roofs. Mainly 2 storeys, 3rd storey squeezed in at
(ashlar) centre of inner block, top storey set back behind
parapet; main entrance at foot. Some dormers. West front
also with variety of planes, 2 doors.
St George's School was the first girl's school to offer
the same curriculum as the boys' schools.
