Description

Later 18th century. Restored Ebenezer J MacRae, 1930 (see Notes). Symmetrical 5-storey and attic 4-bay tenement with 2-window nepus gable and shops to ground floor. Random rubble, polished dressings; droved ashlar (painted to ground). Dividing band between ground and 1st floors and between 4th and nepus gable; eaves cornice. Long and short quoins. Projecting cills above ground floor.

SW (CANDLEMAKER ROW) ELEVATION: square window to ground at outer right; timber panelled door flanked by Ionic columns in 2nd bay from right; timber panelled door to flats in round-arched surround to centre; shop to left with timber panelled door to right and window to left. Regularly fenestrated.

NW (SIDE) ELEVATION): 2-bays: 3 windows in bay to left; signs of previous windows, now blocked. Tall wallhead stack.

12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Stone skews. Apex and end stacks with circular cans.
