Description

Hugh Baird, engineer. Circa 1820. Single span bridge. Coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings. Segmental arch, dressed voussoirs and soffit. Advanced keystone with '12' inscribed. String course. Plain railings between parapet walls, ashlar slab coping.

Statement of Interest

The Edinburgh and Glasgow Union Canal was designed by Hugh Baird and was built from 1818-1822. The bridge is located to the W of Hermiston House on West Hermiston Road. The bridge is identical to Mid Hermiston Bridge, no 11, located to the E.
