Late 18th century, with mid 19th century side wing. 2-storey and basement 5-bay symmetrical square-plan house with classical details, forecourt and single storey side extension to N. Cream sandstone, stugged ashlar with polished dressings, coursed and squared rubble with droved dressings to rear and sides. Band course above basement; eaves cornice; architraved windows.
SE (FRONT) ELEVATION: 3 basement windows blocked with glass bricks. Roman Doric doorway to centre accessed by steps with decorative railed balustrade, deep cavetto-moulded jamb, capitals of stylised acanthus leaves, fluted frieze with griffons, dentilled cornice, 2-leaf panelled door with rectangular plate glass fanlight. Regular fenestration.
NW (REAR) ELEVATION: 3-bay; large lower 2-storey modern flat-roofed extension to centre bay, Venetian stair window above; single windows to outer bays.
SW ELEVATION: 3 single windows (outer blocked); broad coped wallhead stack.
NE ELEVATION: single window to centre at 1st floor; broad coped wallhead stack. Tall garage at ground floor.
SIDE WING: single storey 3-bay flat-roofed wing forming N side of forecourt. Segmental-arched recessed panels with corniced doorway to centre, architraved and corniced windows to outer bays and on return to SE (blinded).
S side of forecourt formed by boundary wall of South Leith parish church with similar detailing.
Timber sash and case windows, 6-pane upper sashes and plate glass lower sashes, 12-pane windows to rear. Grey slate piend roof with lead flashings; 2 wallhead stacks (see above). Moulded eaves gutter.
INTERIOR: stair case with cast-iron balusters, dentilled cornices with inset medallions.
