Earlier 19th century. Single storey, 3-bay cottage and 2-bay addition to E. Part of Middle Norton range of cottages fronting N along Glasgow Road. Coursed whinstone with droved sandstone margins and dressings; quoins.
N ELEVATION: door at centre, boarded with fanlight. Recessed to outer left 2-bay block with lower flat-roofed porch on E return. Linked to No 7 by pend now with door.
12-pane sash and case windows. Graded grey slate roof. Ashlar coping to skews. Coped ashlar apex stacks. Low coursed rubble wall with slab coping.
The range of cottages are shown on the 1st edition ordnance map. The cottages were formerly part of the estate of Norton Mains. Nos 7, 8, 11 & 12 Glasgow Road, also part of Middle Norton are listed separately.
