Description

J R & E E Pearson, 1893. 2-storey 3-bay villa with lower 2-storey side wing to SW. Cream sandstone, squared and snecked rubble with polished dressings. Base course; moulded string course above ground floor with ashlar parapet as apron to 1st floor windows; cill course to 1st floor windows; eaves cornice; architraved windows; ashlar mullions; scroll-flank3ed shouldered and corniced wallhead stacks.

NE (FRONT) ELEVATION: central round-arched tripartite doorpiece divided by slender red marble columns holding carved consoles, 2-leaf panelled door and semi-circular plate glass fanlight; single window at 1st floor above. Bay to right with full-height canted ashlar window with half-piend roof. Bay to left with full-height shallow ashlar projection with bipartite windows to ground and 1st floor. Single bay service wing to outer elft with bipartite window at ground floor; 1st floor window breaking eaves in pedimented gablehead.

NW (POLWARTH TERRACE) ELEVATION: full-height canted window with half-piend roof to right bay. Single windows to centre and left bay. Wallhead stack to left.

SW (REAR) ELEVATION: advanced central bay with half-piend roof. Lower 2-storey service wing to right with dormer windows. Wallhead stack to left.

SE ELEVATION: side wing with secondary door flanked by single windows; 1st floor window breaking eaves in gabled dormerhead. 2 wallhead stacks to main block.

Timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing; slate piend and platform bellcast roof with lead flashings; 4 wallhead stacks (see above), octagonal cans; moulded eaves gutter and gutterheads.

INTERIOR: not seen 1992.

Tall rubble wall to rear and sides with semi-circular coping, low wall to front with saddleback coping, later gates.
