Earlier 19th century with later alterations. Mirrored pair of 2-storey, 3-bay houses. Droved ashlar with polished ashlar dressings; lined render to SE elevation; harled NW elevation. Base course, cill course to 1st floor windows, cornice and blocking course.
NE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: pilastered and corniced doorpiece in bay to centre of each house; 2-leaf panelled door to No 3, with plate glass rectangular fanlight and window at 1st floor above; panelled door to No 4 with radial fanlight and window at 1st floor above. Windows to each floor and in each bay of flanking bays. Screen wall formerly used as passage to rear of house now a single storey pavilion to SE of No 3, with window.
SW (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen, 1994.
Plate glass timber sash and case windows to No 3; uPVC plate glass windows to NO 4. Grey slate piended roof with rendered mutual stack and rendered wallhead stacks to side elevations.
INTERIOR: encaustic tiles to hall of No 3; shutters in situ; cast-iron banister to staircase; plasterwork in good condition; dado, black marble chimneypiece, cast-iron vent to chimney breast, to principal ground floor room; white marble chimneypiece to 1st floor principal room and vent as at ground. Interior of No 4 not seen, 1994.
The houses would originally have had 12-pane sash and case windows, as found still at No 2, which has not been listed due to its paired house being much altered.
