The dovecot was the dovecot to Ravelrig Mansion which was completely altered and extended in 1926 by Richerdson & McKay. The present house, a Chesire Home, is of earlier 20th Century appearance but there may be elements of the original mansion incorporated into the later design. The 18th Century dovecot is similar to dovecots at Addistoun, Newhails (converted), Pilmuir, Pentcaitland and Biel Rarelrig gates.
