Description

Early 19th century. Symmetrical 2-storey basement and attic 9-bay flatted terrace. Cream droved ashlar sandstone with polished dressings; rusticated at ground with base course and band course above; cill course to 1st floor; cornice and blocking course. Coursed dressed rubble to secondary elevations. Regular fenestration. Steps to pannelled doors with rectangular fanlights to 3rd, 5th and 7th bays; blind windows above. 2 basement flats with doors below outer steps and flanking windows.

Gable ends with irregular fenestration. 4-bay rear elevation with piend-roofed tripartite dormers to centre bays.

Timber sash and case glazing; 12-lying-pane to front, 4-pane and plate glass to rear. Grey slates; coped ashlar stacks; ashlar coped skews.

ARCHES, GATEPIERS, WALLS AND RAILINGS: front elevation flanked by depressed-arch ashlar carriageways with cornice and blocking course; coped rubble side walls. Low coped ashlar walls to front supporting railings; terminal gatepier to left with pyramidal cap.

Statement of Interest

Originally known as Bank Place, which is carved on the band course.
