Circa 1900 with later alterations. 2-storey, terrace of 5 and 2-bay houses, sited forward of neighbour, intended for continuation to NE; or possibly subsequently demolished. Stugged and coursed sandstone; droved ashlar canted window; ashlar dressings; side elevation to No 47 now rendered. Base course, broad moulded band course (over-stepping downpipes), eaves course; chamfered arrises to windows.
NW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: doorpieces with broken swan-neck pediment in bay to left of each house; fluted panel to lintel; moulded chamfering stopped at midway point of arrises; 2-leaf doors (No 39 now with modern 2-leaf door); plate glass rectangular fanlights above each. Full-height canted windows bays to right of each house; timber brackets on stone corbels supporting timber lintels to 1st floor windows; pierced barge board to gableheads.
SE (REAR) ELEVATION: projections to outer left of each house.
4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roofs, platform to apex, with glass skylights; stacks to front skew pitch.
INTERIORS: not seen, 1994.
BOUNDARY WALLS: rubble with coping, formerly with cast-iron railings.
None of the houses were erected by 1896; they do not appear on Sutter's map of 1900, but this can not be assumed to be a reliable source.
