Description

Early 19th century with later alterations. 2-storey 2-bay end-of-

terrace house. Harled.

Front panel at ground of stugged cement render lined as ashlar with base course, rusticated corner strips and cornice; projecting tripartite windows to each bay breaking cornice. Windows to both bays at 1st floor breaking eaves with gabled dormerheads; exposed purlins and finials.

Blank gable to N with later (almost) flat-roofed 2-storey block to rear; panelled door at ground and window above. Blank to rear, but windows to both floors of S return. Timber sash and case windows; 4-pane, plate glass to lower sash at ground. Overhanging eaves; grey slates; brick stacks.

Statement of Interest

In 1824 the house was Mr Maule's Academy; it is listed largely for its contribution to the group of Nos 8-10 Currie Street (see separate listings).
