Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay, double pile house. Squared snecked and stugged cream sandstone. Regular fenestration. 1st floor windows with gabled dormerheads; overhanging eaves with exposed rafters.

N (BRIDGEND) ELEVATION: principal 3-bay block with bipartite windows to outer bays; right bay with projecting piend-roofed window at ground and gable. To right, set back single storey entrance with elaborate 2-leaf panelled doors, rectangular fanlight and massive hoodmould with foliate label stops. To left, single set back bay with window at 1st floor; later rendered garage fills re-entrant angle.

W ELEVATION: M-roofed. At centre, porch with pointed-arch leaded windows; window to 1st floor. Flanking bays with windows to both floors.

S ELEVATION: 3-bay. Gabled centre bay with round-headed doorway at ground and window at 1st floor; flanking bays with projecting pentice-roofed tripartite windows at ground and bipartite windows at 1st floor. Porch set back to left with door and letterbox fanlight.

E ELEVATION: pair of gables. Blank to left; set back to right with double lancet stair window; garage at ground.

Timber sash and case plate glass windows; upper sashes leaded, with stained glass. Grey slates, terracotta ridge tiles; coped ashlar apex stacks (some exotic octagonal cans survive). Bargeboards.

GATEPIERS AND RAILINGS: pairs of square rendered gatepiers to left and right. Saddleback ashlar base for cast-iron arrowhead railings.
