J B Brodie, engineer. Built 1927. Roadbridge carrying A756
over River Nith. 3 segmental arches, further smaller
pedestrian arch on W bank. Reinforced concrete with red
ashlar cladding, mostly snecked and bull-faced, polished
voussoirs and parapet coping. Pointed cutwaters either side
with carved panels above, N cutwaters pink granite. Roadway
and parapets slope from W to lower E bank, cast-iron lamp
brackets, and circular terminal piers with conical caps to
parapets, latter curved outwards at E.
