Description

1850/60, incorporating a circa 1840 villa. Barge-boarded

picturesque large asymmetrical villa, single storey and

attic with 3-storey square tower recessed on NE flank with boldly-bracketted pyramidal roof. Painted ashlar. SE

elevation: shallow advanced outer gables, canted ground floor

window right with deep cavetto cornice, steep-gabled porch

in re-entrant angle with Tudor-arched door and with

richly-carved barge-boards; 3-light ground floor window in

left gable; attic windows, including barge-boarded off-centre

dormer, all with stone mullions now removed; altered glazing;

tower has 2 round-headed loops at ground, 2 cusped-headed

lights at 3rd floor. End with axial stacks (some with

projecting chimney breasts) with paired circular or diamond

flues. Slate roofs, with fish-scale banding to tower.
