detached 2-storey villa-style blocks, Northern European
Gothic detailing with timber-framed gable heads and built
around large open green, latter bounded at W by low wall.
All built of stugged red ashlar with polished dressings;
mullioned windows, mostly with depressed ogee hood-moulds,
some canted windows; gabled shallow porches; main gabled bays cavetto-corbelled above ground floor and have Aesthetic
movement terracotta panels central. Inner (E) block with main
central gable, recessed 3-bay ranges either side have
central porches and outer wall-head gables; L-plan N and S
detached blocks with similarly treated 3-bay range adjoining
E end of each main gable, return (W) elevations each with 3
wall-head gables. Plain barge boards; fluted stacks; roofs
all covered with graded slates.
Built as housing for trust established by David Johnstone,
writer, Drumfries.
