17th century. Circular sandstone rubble stump of tower windmill with barrel vaulted chamber below. Tower 4m high and 4.7m in diameter with cap track for moving parts visible above. Entrance with chamfered jambs to roughly coursed sandstone outer wall to N of chamber; flanking swept rubble wings. Grass-covered earthen mound covers remaining part of chamber and around windmill base.
The chamber below the windmill was subsequently in use as a dovecot (1856 OS Map) and an Ice House (1896 OS Map). Built in the grounds of Hill House, an earlier 17th century laird's house (see separate list description).
