William Alexander, 1900. 3-storey, attic and basement, 5-bay, former council offices. Sandstone ashlar, channelled to ground floor, grey slate roof. Cill band to ground, 1st and 2nd floor, corniced 2nd floor to 3 left hand bays, consoled parapet with blind trefoil-headed panels; architraved bipartite windows, round-headed cartouche panels with consoled lintels to ground floor, consoled lintels with segmental pediments to 1st (shallower tripartite with triangular pediment to centre bay), cross windows to 2 right hand bays breaking into parapet with pedimented panels over, 3 round-headed dormers to left; ashlar-coped skews with finialled dies, corniced end stack to right.
FRONT ELEVATION: modern door to slightly advanced centre bay approached by steps oversailing basement, keystoned and pilastered round-headed doorpiece voluted to pediment from springing point, tripartite window above, 2 bipartites to left and right at ground and 1st floor, 3 bipartites to 2nd floor left and 2 tall windows to right, 3 dormers.
REAR ELEVATION: various doors to ground floor, single and bipartite windows with original glazing.
INTERIOR: not seen.
RAILINGS: decorative cast-iron panel railings to steps and area.
This building was built as the Parish Council Chambers in a style compatible with the Curr Refuge (also listed at Nos 3,5,7).
