Style of James Black, circa 1830-40. Single storey and
2-storey rubble, bowed south front, unfluted Greek Doric
doorway. After 1821. Notable staircase, poor external
basement cottage, harled with painted ashlar margins.
3-bay S elevation: entrance approached by steps between
repair.
twin advanced gables. Broad eaves. Later set-back NW wing,
single window without margins. 3-window N elevation.
Piended and gabled U-plan slate roof. 4 tall ashlar stacks
in slope of roof. All ground floor windows sashes of 12
lying-panes.

Listing excludes modern flat-roofed addition to E. Some
similarities to 1-4 Somerville Place and to Douglas Terrace,
Broughty Ferry suggest that either Black or George Mathewson
may have been the architect responsible.
