Description

James Leslie, 1845-8. 11-span segmental arched aqueduct crossing the Dighty. Rubble-built with ashlar voussoirs. 8 feet wide with coped parapets to walkway.

Statement of Interest

Principal survival above ground of the work of the Dundee Water Company, established 1844 to bring water from Monikie Burn to Stobsmuir Reservoir. It rapidly proved inadequate, despite the laying of a second 15" diameter main in 1862, and had to be supplemented in the 1870s by the Lintrathen scheme.
