Charles Edward and Thomas S Robertson, 1874 Mission School,
L-plan church added 1876. Prominent triangular site bounded
by Albert, Eliza and Dura Streets. Simple rubble-built
gabled Gothic with wooden tracery.
PICTURESQUE COMPOSITION TO ALBERT STREET: entrance is at
base of lozenge tower in re-entrant angle, lancets light
stair at lower stage, tall louvred belfry windows above,
2-light on long, single light on short sides. Blind
trefoiled parapet, slate broach spire with Lucarne and
wrought-iron finial. Clock.
2-storey paired gabled gallery projection at left of
tower, quatrefoil traceried upper windows, lancets and
single-storey apsidal projecting vestry with 3 gabled
windows at SE angle.
ELIZA STREET GABLE: buttressed with 2-light traceried
windows, simple rose window and vesica, impost-level
string courses.
DURA STREET ELEVATION: shallow twin gabled projection
with 2 2-light traceried windows, 2-storey 3-gabled section
to left.
Rose window in N gable. Single-storey 4-bay hall to N
with apsidal end and modern skylights, lower canted
projection at gusset with mansard roof added 1978, replacing
apsidal gablets. Cathedral glazing, slate roof.
INTERIOR: L-plan, 2 galleries to N and E, both with modern halls
brought forward into upper pews. 1 single and 1 engaged
shaft with stiff leaf capitals. Collar beam/hammer beam
roof. Early 20th century pulpit, organ and a little stained
glass.
HALL: Hammer beam roof removed and floor inserted.
Ecclesiastical building in use as such. Originally the
Dura Street Mission School and Ogilvie Free Church.
