Description

Circa 1850, 2 3-storey and attic 3-bay tenments, 3rd
added at Raglan Street corner circa 1860. Coursed and
squared rubble-built tenements with back platties and
ground floor shops.
Elevation to Albert Street: Nos 51-57 twin symmetrical
tenements with simple ground floor shopfronts and central
doors. Centre bays of upper floors (No 49, accessed from
pend at right) blind. Canted dormers to inner bays, Nos
41-7 3-bay with ground floor shopfronts, bay to right blind
on upper floors. Chamfered corner, dormer and shouldered
wallhead stack.
Elevation to Raglan Street: 3-bay, bay to left with timber
mullion. Shouldered corniced wallhead stack; dormer.
Rear: central open-topped semi-circular stair tower with
flatstone platforms to each landing.
Slate roof with coped ridge and wallhead stacks. Sash
and case windows, mainly 2-pane glazing pattern.

Statement of Interest

Typical of the type of tenement that stretched down into

Princes and Crescent Streets and has now all but

vanished. Upper floors mainly empty (1989).
