Description

J and A Leslie, 1873, for the Dundee Water Commissioners. Single-storey castellated sluice house on an octagonal lozenge plan, droved ashlar with polished ashlar dressings, snecked rubble rear. Encircling corbelled castellated parapet.

Clepington Road elevation: 2 bipartites, single lights at chamfered angles. Cylindrical turret at W end with roll-moulded string course, 1st floor roundel with castellated parapet. Entrance porch at E with crow-stepped gable, carved skewputts and roundel. Rear elevation blind. Slate roof to porch, Sash and case windows, 2-pane glazing pattern. Interior unaltered: 6 original geared sluice valves by Glenfield and Co Ltd (Kilmarnock), pressure recorder (George Kent) and gauges (Shaffer and Budenberg). These serve 3 underground pipes.

Low rubble-built boundary wall. Wrought-iron gate.
