Description

Johnston and Baxter, 1890. 2-storey asymmetrical 2 by 1-bay gothic lodge, squared and snecked rubble with ashlar dressings, buttressed angles, and gatepiers at N entrance to Lochee Park.

LODGE N ELEVATION: advanced octagonal stair-tower with pointed arched door. Hoodmoulded cast-iron plaque over inscribed: "Lochee Park The Gift of Cox Brothers 1890". Octagonal top stage with blind arcaded panels. Prismatic roof with fish-scale slates and wrought-iron finial. Canted bay to right with 4 transomed and cusped lights. Castellated parapet. Gabletted cross-window over with blind quatrefoil and flanking gargoyles breaks eaves.

SIDES AND REAR: each gable has 2 hoodmoulded cross-windows and a Fleur de lis finial. Modern single-storey extension at rear. Slate roof with ridge tiles. Central stack. Windows sash and case, 2-pane below transoms. Low boundary wall, railings and gates removed, with square-section chamfered piers with pyramidal caps. 4 square-section gatepiers, buttressed to N and S and with gabletted pyramidal caps.
