Description

Dated 1828. 3-storey and basement, 4-bay hotel. Vertically droved ashlar front; rubble sides and rear with ashlar dressings. Raised cills and cill course below 1st floor windows; cornice and block course with raised centre panel.

Doric porch off-centre; substantial architrave with inscribed panel; "Aedificata 1623 Renovata 1828." Dragon symbol on porch ceiling; double panelled doors; plate glass fanlight.

Tall windows to 1st floor, smaller at 2nd. 6-pane glazing in upper sashes, plate glass to lower; 12-pane glazing at rear. Piended slate roof; end stacks. Arrowhead railings; steps to basement.

On site of 1625 building, parts of which may be absorbed. Formerly 'Cossar's Inn' with stable, rear, at foot of Cossar's Wynd.
