Formerly known as Newmills House. A change in masonry colour at 2nd floor suggests that it was a later addition. This building originally formed part of a large complex of buildings, marked as "New Mills (Flour)" on the OS Map 1852-53. All the other buildings had been removed, and the mill lade blocked by 1892. The later-later 19th century sluice-gate, serving the Saw mill (formerly Carding and Spinning Mill) downstream is sited to the N.
